Information Overload

April 5, 2025

Not too long ago, I used to check the next day’s newspaper for cricket match results. Most times, I wouldn’t find them and had to wait for the 8 AM news telecast. Fast forward to today, tech and apps pushes real-time updates to us, even if we don’t ask for them. A batsman gets hit in a practice session across the globe, and somehow, I know about it—even without having a single social media app on my phone, excluding WhatsApp.

Yes, this wasn’t 100 years ago. It was just 20, Information used to be gold.

But is it still?

In today’s world, we’re drowning in it. Even when we want to stay away, information finds its way to us.

Why is this a problem?

Because success—or productive results—follows this cycle:

👉 Learn → Process → Practice → Master

But most of us stop at just one phase: Consume, consume, consume, consume—then call it a day. And repeat.

Imagine eating food for the next 3 days in one sitting. You can’t, right?

But we’re consuming a month’s worth of information in a single day—without processing, practicing, or applying.

With this pattern, progress becomes impossible. Nothing will change unless we change how we consume.
